Discover a Handmade Christmas at UK Craft Fairs and Makers’ Markets

If you enjoy finding thoughtful gifts, meeting local makers and discovering something a little different from the usual high-street presents, a Christmas craft fair could be just the festive outing you’re looking for.

The Best Christmas Markets guide to craft fairs and makers’ markets brings together 79 events around the UK for 2026.

The site says 76 have dates confirmed by their organisers, with the first listed event, Benthall Artisan Christmas Fair in Broseley, opening on Saturday 24 October. The calendar runs into December, with events listed as late as New Year’s Eve. bestchristmasmarkets.co.uk

These are events described by their organisers as craft, artisan or makers’ markets, where stalls are mostly run by people selling things they have made themselves. That gives visitors the chance to browse for handmade decorations, jewellery, artwork, textiles and other gifts, while supporting independent creators. Each fair will have its own character, so there may be new makers and local treasures to discover wherever you visit.

The listings cover England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Choices include Craft in Focus at RHS Garden Wisley, Christmas in Cathedral Square in Birmingham, Cardiff Christmas Market, Ludlow Winter Festival and the Portmeirion Christmas Fair.

Some events take place over several weeks, while others are one-day fairs or weekend markets. The guide gives dates and, where published, days open and entry information. bestchristmasmarkets.co.uk

Entry arrangements vary. The page currently identifies 33 markets as free to enter and 26 as requiring a ticket or paid admission; for the others, the organisers have not published an entry price. It’s sensible to check the individual event listing and organiser’s website before setting off, especially as opening days can vary during a fair’s run. bestchristmasmarkets.co.uk

The guide also includes a map and links to other types of Christmas market, making it easier to explore options by location or style. Whether you’re planning a festive day out, hoping to find a present with a personal touch, or simply love browsing handmade work, it’s a useful place to start.

Take a look at the 2026 Christmas craft fairs and makers’ markets guide and see what’s happening near you. Check dates, times, tickets and travel details with the organisers before you go, as event information can change.

The Best Christmas Stocking Fillers for Adults

Christmas stockings aren't just for children!

In fact, putting together a stocking for an adult can be enormous fun, especially when it contains a mixture of useful items, little luxuries and amusing surprises.

The trick is to avoid filling it with things that will never be used.

For someone who enjoys reading, consider a bookmark, miniature reading light or small puzzle book.

Food lovers might appreciate speciality chocolates, miniature jars of preserves or interesting seasonings.

A keen gardener could enjoy seed packets, plant labels or gardening gloves.

For someone who travels regularly, luggage tags, compact toiletries or a small travel organiser might be welcome.

Practical everyday items can also make excellent stocking fillers.

Think of quality pens, reusable shopping bags, warm socks or a handy phone stand.

And don't forget traditional favourites such as chocolate coins, satsumas and small novelty gifts.

A themed stocking can be particularly effective.

For example, a relaxing evening stocking could contain herbal tea, a paperback book, a scented candle and some chocolate.

Alternatively, a cooking-themed stocking might include unusual spices, a recipe booklet and a small kitchen accessory.

Set a budget before you begin. Small purchases can add up surprisingly quickly, particularly when bought impulsively.

It also pays to check product sizes. Some miniature gifts offer poor value compared with their full-sized equivalents.

At That's Christmas 365, we think the best stockings are those that show imagination and affection.

They don't need to be expensive or overflowing with presents.

A few carefully chosen surprises can provide just as much enjoyment.

And there's something wonderfully cheerful about discovering that Father Christmas hasn't forgotten the grown-ups!

Christmas Gifts for the Man Who Says He Doesn't Want Anything!

We all know one, don't we? That husband, father, grandfather, brother or friend who, when asked what he'd like for Christmas, responds with the familiar words: "Oh, nothing. I've got everything I need!"

Very helpful. Thank you!

But at That's Christmas 365, we believe that even the most difficult-to-buy-for gentleman deserves something special under the Christmas tree. The trick is finding a present he didn't realise he wanted!

Think Hobbies, Not Just Presents

Does he enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, photography or tinkering with gadgets?

A keen gardener might appreciate some quality tools, unusual seeds or a fascinating gardening book.

For the enthusiastic cook, consider a selection of exotic spices, an interesting kitchen gadget or a cookbook featuring dishes he hasn't tried before.

Technology enthusiasts might enjoy a wireless charging stand, a portable power bank or a clever little accessory that makes everyday life easier.

And for the man who loves a good book? A biography, historical reference work or gripping thriller could be just the ticket.

A Little Luxury Never Hurts

Sometimes the best presents are upgraded versions of everyday essentials.

Think luxurious shaving products, beautifully made socks, a quality leather wallet or a particularly comfortable pair of slippers.

Food and drink gifts can also be winners. Speciality coffee, artisan chocolates, interesting cheeses or a selection of favourite treats can make excellent presents.

Give Him Something to Remember

What about an experience rather than another possession?

A heritage railway journey, brewery tour, theatre visit, afternoon tea or tickets to a sporting event might provide memories long after Christmas has passed.

Better still, choose something you can enjoy together.

Don't Forget the Unexpected!

Sometimes a quirky present is the most successful.

A retro radio, unusual puzzle, nostalgic board game or fascinating piece of memorabilia connected with his childhood could bring a genuine smile.

Personalised gifts can also work beautifully, especially when they reflect his interests rather than simply displaying his name.

It's the Thought That Counts

Of course, if he genuinely doesn't want anything, respect his wishes. Perhaps he'd appreciate a special meal, an outing or simply some quality time with family.

Our advice from That's Christmas 365? Listen to what he talks about throughout the year. That casual comment about a gadget, book or hobby might provide the perfect Christmas inspiration.

After all, the man who says he wants nothing might just be the one who enjoys a thoughtful surprise the most!

Craft for Cats Returns With a Special Festive Stitchalong to Help Cats in Need This Christmas

Paraffle and Cats Protection are inviting crafters and cat lovers to make a personalised Christmas stocking together, with a minimum of £10 from every kit helping cats near you.

Crafters and cat lovers can put their creativity to good use this Christmas as Paraffle and Cats Protection bring back Craft for Cats for a fourth event, with a new festive project and live online stitchalong.

This year's event will see people across the UK create their own cat-themed Christmas stocking, while helping to raise vital funds for Cats Protection.

It continues a partnership that has already made a real difference. As of 19 December 2025, Paraffle had raised more than £84,000 for Cats Protection through its fundraising, helping the charity continue its work supporting cats in need.

Now Paraffle hopes its fourth Craft for Cats event can add to that total, with a minimum of £10 from every craft kit going to help cats near you.

The new £22 embroidery kit contains everything needed to make one traditional Christmas stocking.

Crafters can choose between red or green and use a selection of cat-themed and festive embroidery patterns to create their own design, with the option to personalise the stocking with a name.

The kits are beginner friendly, with instructions guiding crafters through the project from start to finish, meaning no previous embroidery experience is needed.

But Craft for Cats is about more than making the stocking. On Saturday 5 December 2026, crafters are invited to come together for a special live online stitchalong hosted by Paraffle founder Sammy.

Sammy will be live in the dedicated Craft for Cats Facebook group, stitching alongside everyone taking part, answering questions and giving crafters the chance to share their progress and creations with the wider community.

Sammy, founder of Paraffle, told That's Christmas: "Craft for Cats has become such a lovely event for us because it brings together people who enjoy making things with a cause we really care about. We can't wait to see everyone stitching their stockings together in December and, most importantly, raising more money to help cats in need."

Anyone wanting to take part can join the Facebook community ahead of the event:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/craftforcats

The live sessions will also be recorded and available to watch back on demand, so crafters who can't join on the day can still take part at a time that suits them.

Craft for Cats Christmas Stocking Kits are available now for £22:

https://www.cats.org.uk/embroidery-craft

Kits are available to purchase until 20 December 2026, with a minimum of £10 from every kit sold supporting Cats Protection.

Previous Paraffle Craft for Cats kits are also still available, with 20% from every sale donated to Cats Protection, giving crafters more projects to enjoy while continuing to support the charity:

https://paraffle.com/collections/craft-for-cats

So, get the Christmas music on, make a cuppa and join Sammy and the Craft for Cats community for a festive session of stitching that can make a difference.

Craft for good. Craft for Cats.

The 12 Flavours of Christmas: Steenbergs’ Little Ingredients for Big Festive Flavour

Christmas cooking is full of big moments, but sometimes it’s the smallest ingredients that make them memorable.

A pinch of spice in a biscuit, a splash of vanilla in cream or a smoky twist on a party snack can bring a little extra magic to the table.

North Yorkshire family business Steenbergs specialises in premium, organic and ethically sourced herbs, spices, seasonings and baking ingredients. Here are Sophie and Axel Steenberg’s 12 ideas for adding festive flavour with minimum fuss.

1. Organic Mixed Spice

The scent of Christmas in a jar. Stir a teaspoon into mincemeat, Christmas cake, cookies or apple crumble for a fragrant blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves.

2. Organic Fairtrade Vanilla Extract

A splash transforms softly whipped cream for mince pies, pudding or pavlova. Steenbergs’ extract is made with vanilla from Madagascar and contains no added sugar.

3. Organic Cinnamon

Sprinkle over French toast, porridge or stewed apples for a cosy Christmas morning. Cinnamon quills also make lovely stirrers for hot chocolate and mulled wine.

4. Organic Star Anise

Add a star to warming mulled wine or a festive cocktail. It looks beautiful, too, floating in a punch with orange slices and cinnamon.

5. Organic Smoked Paprika

Give roasted nuts and sea salt a smoky makeover for drinks-party nibbles. It also adds savoury depth to roast potatoes, vegetables and dips.

6. Organic Nutmeg

Freshly grate a little over bread sauce, cauliflower cheese or a creamy gratin. A delicate dusting also brings warmth to festive coffee and hot chocolate.

7. Organic Cardamom

For a fresh, aromatic twist, add a pinch to buttery shortbread or lemon biscuits. Cardamom pairs especially well with orange, coffee and chocolate.

8. Organic Stollen Spice Mix

This warming family-recipe blend of allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove is made for traditional Stollen. Try it in festive buns, fruit cake or enriched breads, too.

9. Organic Christmas Chai Spices

Cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, clove, cardamom and orange peel make a comforting alcohol-free warmer. Simmer with tea, milk, water and sugar after a winter walk.

10. Mulled Wine Spices

Add a sachet to gently heated red wine and let the aromas fill the kitchen. Cloudy apple juice makes a delicious non-alcoholic alternative.

11. Organic Ginger

Bring a little heat to gingerbread, sticky cake or chocolate brownies. It’s also lovely sprinkled over pears before roasting.

12. Organic Rosemary

Crush with sea salt for roast potatoes, or mix with garlic and olive oil for a simple roast-seasoning rub. It can perk up Boxing Day leftovers, too.

Small jar, big flavour: a few well-chosen ingredients can make festive cooking easier and more delicious.

Hello Kitty and Friends x Care Bears™ Come Together for Limited-Edition Crystal Art® Advent Calendar

Craft Buddy brings two beloved worlds together in a festive 24-day Christmas collaboration.

Craft Buddy is bringing two of the world's most recognisable character brands together this Christmas with the launch of the limited-edition Hello Kitty and Friends x Care Bears Crystal Art® Advent Calendar on 22 October 2026.

The innovative reveal, create and cherish design brings well-known characters from Hello Kitty and Friends and Care Bears together in one colourful Crystal Art® collection. Putting friendship at the heart of the Christmas countdown, the calendar pairs personalities from both worlds across a rainbow-themed festive display.

Behind each of the 24 push-and-reveal doors is a different Crystal Art® magnetic character design waiting to be discovered and decorated with crystals. The format brings together several major collecting trends in one product: limited-edition collaborations, character fandom, crafting and collectible display pieces.

Familiar faces from both brands appear individually and together across the calendar. Each magnetic piece is embellished before being added to the framed display, gradually transforming the Advent countdown into a complete Hello Kitty and Friends x Care Bears scene.

24 Days. One Limited-Edition Collaboration. The framed magnetic board (35cm x 48cm) provides a backdrop for all 24 completed Crystal Art® magnets, allowing fans to arrange and rearrange the characters throughout December. Rather than disappearing once Christmas Eve arrives, the calendar has been designed to remain as a finished display. Each crystal piece becomes a reusable magnet, ideal for fridge décor and year-round keepsakes. It's a celebration of friendship that lasts beyond Christmas.

Both Hello Kitty and Friends and Care Bears have found audiences far beyond their original generations. Characters once associated predominantly with children now appear across fashion, accessories, beauty, homeware and collectibles, with nostalgic fans buying alongside a new generation discovering them for the first time.

That crossover makes the calendar as appealing to adult collectors and kidults as it is to younger fans. As a screen-free activity, it also offers families an opportunity to spend quality time together in the run-up to Christmas, while the gentle, repetitive nature of crystal art provides a calming break from the festive rush.

Gary Wadhwani, Co-Founder of Craft Buddy, told That's Christmas: “The Hello Kitty and Friends x Care Bears Advent Calendar is an exciting collaboration. Both brands have fans across generations, and we wanted to create something special that combines crafting, collecting and the magic of Christmas, with a keepsake that can be enjoyed long after December.”

Charlotte Payne, Vice President Brand Management, Entertainment, Authentic Brands Group, added: “Care Bears has always celebrated the power of sharing, caring, and friendship, and this collaboration with Hello Kitty and Friends brings those values together in a wonderfully creative way. It's a fun way for fans of all ages to connect with the characters they love, make memories together, and share a little extra care throughout the holiday season.”

Why Books Still Make Some of the Best Christmas Presents

In a world dominated by smartphones, streaming services and electronic gadgets, the humble book remains one of the finest Christmas presents imaginable.

And we're delighted about that!

Books offer something rather special. They can entertain, educate, inspire and transport readers to places they might never otherwise visit.

Better still, there's a book for almost every interest.

History enthusiasts can explore biographies, archaeology, military history and fascinating accounts of forgotten events.

Gardeners have an enormous selection of practical guides, illustrated reference works and books celebrating remarkable gardens.

Food lovers can enjoy cookery books covering everything from traditional British dishes to international cuisine.

For readers who enjoy crime fiction, Christmas offers an opportunity to discover a new author or revisit a favourite detective.

Children's books are particularly rewarding gifts. A beautifully illustrated story can become a treasured possession and perhaps inspire a lifelong love of reading.

Reference books deserve consideration, too.

Dictionaries, atlases, encyclopaedias and specialist guides might seem old-fashioned to some people, but there's still enormous pleasure in browsing a physical volume and discovering something unexpected.

If you're uncertain about someone's tastes, ask discreetly about their favourite authors or subjects.

Alternatively, consider a bookshop voucher, allowing the recipient to enjoy choosing their own books.

Second-hand and antiquarian books can also make wonderful gifts, particularly for collectors or people interested in local history.

At That's Christmas 365, we think books offer something increasingly valuable: an opportunity to slow down.

A comfortable chair, a warm drink and a good book can turn an ordinary winter afternoon into something rather special.

And unlike many Christmas presents, a favourite book can be enjoyed again and again.

Don't Let Flat Batteries Ruin Christmas! Why a Battery Tester Could Be Your Festive Lifesaver

Christmas morning is supposed to be filled with excitement, laughter and the sounds of delighted children discovering what Father Christmas has brought them.

But there's one little problem that can bring all that excitement to a grinding halt: flat batteries!

Here at That's Christmas 365, we believe that a little forward planning can save an awful lot of frustration during the festive season.

And one of the simplest things you can do is make sure you have enough working batteries for everything that needs them.

It's Not Just the Children's Toys!

When we think about Christmas batteries, we naturally think about toys. Remote-controlled cars, electronic games, talking dolls, musical toys and all manner of other presents can require batteries.

But there's much more to consider.

Think about the kitchen gadgets you might be using to prepare Christmas dinner. Digital scales, electronic thermometers, timers and battery-powered milk frothers can all be essential parts of your festive preparations.

Then there are television remote controls, battery-powered Christmas decorations, LED candles, fairy lights, clocks and countless other household items.

The last thing anyone wants on Christmas Day is to discover that something important has stopped working because its batteries have given up!

Our Own Battery Testing Discovery

My wife and I recently decided to take a more organised approach to our household batteries.

We purchased a Dlyfull battery tester from Amazon, and it has proved to be an absolute godsend.

Rather than guessing whether a battery is still usable, or throwing away batteries that might have plenty of life left in them, we can now check them quickly and easily.

It's surprising how useful such a simple little device can be.

We've found that having a battery tester takes much of the guesswork out of dealing with batteries. Instead of wondering whether a gadget is faulty or simply suffering from weak batteries, we can investigate the most obvious possibility first.

And, of course, avoiding unnecessarily throwing away usable batteries can help save money and reduce waste.

It's worth remembering that a basic battery tester gives an indication of a battery's condition rather than a guarantee of how long it will last in a particular device.

Our Christmas Battery Checklist

Before the festivities begin, we'd recommend:

Checking which batteries new toys and gifts require, particularly whether they're included.

Keeping a sensible supply of AA, AAA, C, D and 9V batteries, according to your household's needs.

Remembering button batteries for suitable devices, and keeping them securely away from children and curious pets.

Testing batteries in existing Christmas decorations before putting them up.

Checking remote controls, kitchen gadgets and other frequently used devices.

Making sure rechargeable batteries are charged and ready for action.

Keeping a suitable screwdriver handy for battery compartments.

One important safety point: never mix old and new batteries, or different battery types, in the same device. Button batteries are particularly dangerous if swallowed and must be stored securely.

A Small Purchase That Could Make a Big Difference

A battery tester might not be the most glamorous Christmas purchase you'll ever make, but our experience with the Dlyfull tester has convinced us that it's an extremely useful addition to the household.

And it's not just for Christmas. It's something that can prove useful throughout the year.

So, while you're stocking up on mince pies, Christmas crackers and festive treats, spare a thought for those little cylinders of electrical energy that keep so many things working.

Because Christmas Day is far too special to spend hunting through drawers for a working pair of AA batteries!

And don't forget to keep the used batteries in a safe place to recycle them.

That's Christmas 365 – helping you enjoy a happier, better organised Christmas, every day of the year.

And Tonight We’re Going to Party Like It’s 1929

Christmas has always been a wonderful excuse to dress up, put on some music and make an evening feel special.

This year, Trevethan Gin invites us to add a little 1920s glamour to the festivities with its Christmas Reserve Gin.

The Trevethan story began in 1929, when Norman Trevethan, a chauffeur at Cornwall’s historic Port Eliot Estate, began making his own gin.

Nearly a century later, that family recipe still inspires the range. Founder and Master Distiller John Hall brought an engineer’s curiosity to the original formula, refining it through 31 versions over 18 months before creating Trevethan Original 1929 London Dry Gin.

That spirit of thoughtful improvement carries through to Christmas Reserve: a festive gin made for cocktail hour, celebrations and evenings when you fancy a little ceremony. It starts with Trevethan’s London Dry Gin, then adds a warming seasonal mix of botanicals.

Locally grown Norwegian spruce brings an evocative evergreen note, while orange, cinnamon and vanilla add citrus and cosy spice. Cranberries, raspberries and lime lift the richer flavours with a bright, fruity freshness. The result sounds perfectly suited to a winter evening: aromatic, warming and unmistakably Christmassy.

The bottle’s Art Deco inspiration gives it a glamorous presence on a drinks trolley, while its story reaches back to a time of jazz, elegant bars and flourishing cocktail culture. Trevethan’s approach is to honour its heritage while continuing to refine it, and the gin has earned international recognition, including IWSC Gold and Gold Outstanding awards.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy Christmas Reserve. For a simple festive G&T, fill a glass generously with ice, add premium tonic, then pour in the gin last. Finish with a twist of fresh orange peel.

For something warmer in flavour, serve it over ice with ginger ale, orange peel and a cinnamon stick. Or, if you’re hosting a party, mix equal parts Christmas Reserve, sweet vermouth and Campari over ice for a Midnight Negroni, finished with a generous twist of orange.

At 40% ABV, this 70cl bottle is made in Cornwall and has an RRP of £39. It’s available through the Trevethan Distillery online shop, here: https://www.trevethangin.com/shop

So gather your favourite people, choose a glass, and let the festive evening unfold. Here’s to Christmas, a touch of 1929 glamour, and a very merry cocktail hour.

Handmade Crochet Gifts and More with a Personal Touch

When so many Christmas decorations and gifts are made in their thousands, something created by hand has a special appeal.

Each stitch takes time and care, and the finished piece feels personal in a way that mass-produced items rarely do.

Crochet artist Kathy Gagliardi, whose work is associated with KJHDesigns, makes handmade crochet items and patterns for people who appreciate the beauty of traditional craft.

Her designs include shawls and blankets, alongside other crocheted creations that turn yarn into lovely textures and shapes.

Crochet may be an age-old skill, but it has found a fresh audience. Many people are taking up crafts such as crochet, knitting and sewing for the pleasure of making something themselves. Others enjoy finding distinctive handmade pieces created by independent makers. Either way, there is growing appreciation for the time, imagination and skill behind each finished item.

Gifts made one stitch at a time

Crochet is a patient craft. A shawl or blanket can take many hours to complete, with every stitch carefully worked and the pattern and tension kept consistent. The result is more than a useful or decorative object: it is a piece made with attention and care.

That makes crochet a natural fit for Christmas gifting. A cosy shawl could make a thoughtful present for someone who loves to wrap up warmly. A soft blanket might be treasured by a new parent, while crocheted decorations can bring a handmade touch to the festive home. These are gifts to use, enjoy and keep for years.

Supporting independent makers

Buying from a small craft business can mean supporting an individual maker and helping traditional skills continue. It also gives you the chance to choose something with character, rather than another present from a production line.

Kathy’s crochet work is a reminder that Christmas gifts do not need to be flashy or mass-produced to feel special. A handmade piece brings its own story: the maker’s creativity, the hours spent creating it and the thought behind choosing it for someone.

For a season centred on warmth and generosity, that personal touch can mean a great deal.

Send a Christmas eCard and Support Clean Water and Menstrual Hygiene

Christmas greetings can do more than spread festive cheer this year. A new collaboration between Hope Spring eCards and SuS Pads is bringing charity Christmas cards to SuS Pads’ recently launched eCards platform, giving supporters a way to send seasonal wishes while contributing to causes that matter.

The partnership combines Hope Spring’s experience in designing digital greeting cards with SuS Pads’ aim of developing new ways to support its work.

Hope Spring designers will create a collection of Christmas eCards for SuS Pads, which will offer them to its supporters. Proceeds will help fund the organisations’ charitable activities.

Hope Spring supports access to clean water in underserved communities. SuS Pads works to address period poverty through menstrual hygiene education and reusable pad training. Both organisations’ work connects with Sustainable Development Goal 6, which focuses on clean water and sanitation.

Access to clean water and menstrual hygiene is closely linked to health, dignity and opportunity. The partnership gives the charities a chance to introduce more people to these issues, while showing how practical collaboration can help strengthen fundraising.

“Christmas is a time when people naturally think about helping others,” Lolade Aderibigbe, a spokesperson for Hope Spring eCards told That's Christmas 365.

“Through this collaboration, we want to demonstrate how something as simple as sending an eCard can contribute to a wider charitable purpose.”

For SuS Pads, working with experienced designers will help it build its new digital greetings service and develop a Christmas collection for its community. Director Boluwatife Olorunfemi said the partnership reflects the value of working together towards shared goals. She added that the charity is excited to offer eCards as another way for supporters to engage with its mission and contribute to positive change.

A charity Christmas card can be a thoughtful alternative to a traditional card, particularly for friends and family who appreciate a present with a purpose. It lets you share a festive message and, at the same time, help sustain work that continues long after the decorations have been put away.

Supporters are invited to visit the SuS Pads eCards platform and look out for the new Christmas designs. You can also explore Hope Spring’s Christmas eCards to find greetings that support clean water projects.

Whether you are sending a card to a friend, a relative or a colleague, choosing a charitable eCard is a small seasonal gesture that can help support lasting change.

From a 10-Year-Old’s Idea to a Christmas Game for the Whole Family

A fast-paced fantasy card game dreamed up by a 10-year-old is now making its way into shops, giving families a lively new game to add to their Christmas wish lists.

Laurie Buchanan was just 10 when he designed Wizerds, Warriors, & Werewolves. Now 15, he is seeing his creation reach players around the world, with the game published by Tycoon Games and available in the United States. It is due to launch in the UK and Europe soon.

For Christmas shoppers looking for a present that brings everyone to the table, this fantasy card-battling game promises a lot of adventure in a compact package.

Set in the magical realm of Entaria, players use Action Cards and their Champions’ special abilities to take on rivals, survive monsters and werewolves, and try to become the last Champion standing.

Laurie wanted to create a “take-that” fantasy game filled with action and mischief. His goal, as he explains in the rulebook, was to make playing feel like “epic wizard mayhem” in just 15 to 20 minutes. That short playing time could make it a handy choice for family gatherings, while the rules are recommended for players aged eight and above.

Laurie’s love of games began early. He had been playing with his family since he was four, and his childhood idea has since travelled well beyond the playtesting table. The game has appeared at Gen Con in the United States and UK Games Expo, and Laurie is set to demonstrate it to an international audience at SPIEL Essen in Germany, on the Tycoon Games booth, 5A110.

Personalised Christmas Gift to Keep for Years, courtesy of Custtom

Some Christmas presents are enjoyed for a moment and then forgotten.

A personalised photo print can be different: it turns a favourite photograph into something special to display at home, bringing back a happy memory long after the decorations have come down.

Custtom is a UK personalised photo print brand offering wall art and home décor made with your own photos.

The company says it has sold more than five million canvases, has a 4.9 rating on Trustpilot and delivers orders within five working days. Its products also come with a lifetime guarantee.

That combination of personal and practical makes photo prints a lovely gift idea. You could choose a family photograph, a treasured holiday memory, a favourite picture of a pet or a special moment from the year.

The result is a present chosen with someone in mind, rather than another item that may be put away and forgotten.

There is a range of personalised prints and home décor to explore, so you can look for something that suits the recipient and the space they have at home. Browse the collection at custtom.co.uk.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful Christmas present with a personal touch, a photo print could be a gift they’ll enjoy seeing on their wall for years to come.

Christmas Gifts for Pet Lovers. And Their Pets!

For millions of people, Christmas wouldn't be complete without including their pets in the celebrations.

Whether your household includes dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots or other much-loved companions, there are plenty of gift ideas for both animals and their owners.

Let's begin with the pets themselves.

Dogs might appreciate a durable new toy, a comfortable bed or a specially designed enrichment puzzle.

Cats often enjoy interactive toys, scratching equipment and places to climb or hide.

For parrots and other companion birds, suitable foraging toys and species-appropriate enrichment items can provide entertainment and mental stimulation.

However, safety must always come first.

Choose toys appropriate to the animal's size and species, avoiding anything that could be swallowed, become entangled or cause injury.

Christmas treats also require care. Chocolate, raisins, grapes and some other festive foods are dangerous for dogs and cats, whilst many human foods are unsuitable for other pets.

But what about presents for the humans?

Personalised pet portraits can make delightful gifts, particularly when created from a favourite photograph.

Other possibilities include pet-themed mugs, calendars, clothing, books and decorative items.

A professional photography session could provide a wonderful keepsake.

Practical presents are worth considering, too. Grooming equipment, storage containers and quality pet accessories can be both useful and appreciated.

For someone who has recently lost a beloved animal, a tasteful memorial gift may be meaningful, although sensitivity is essential.

At That's Christmas 365, we believe pets are an important part of family life.

Including them in Christmas celebrations can be great fun, provided their welfare remains the priority.

After all, the best Christmas present for any pet is a safe, comfortable home filled with care and affection.

The Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide for People Who Have Everything

We all know someone who seems impossible to buy for.

Whenever you ask what they'd like for Christmas, the response is invariably the same: "Oh, don't get me anything. I've already got everything I need!"

Helpful? Not particularly! Though I have to admit this does probably describe me!

But buying presents for these people doesn't have to be an impossible task.

The secret is to stop thinking exclusively about possessions.

Instead, consider experiences, consumable gifts and presents connected with personal interests.

An afternoon tea, theatre visit, museum membership or craft workshop might be far more welcome than another ornament gathering dust.

For someone who enjoys food, why not create a selection of unusual ingredients? Speciality oils, artisan sauces, regional cheeses or luxury biscuits can provide genuine pleasure.

Gardeners might appreciate unusual seeds, a specialist gardening book or a voucher for their favourite garden centre.

Book lovers can be surprisingly easy to please if you know their interests. A beautifully illustrated reference book or a volume about an obscure historical subject might be ideal.

Personalised gifts are another possibility, provided they're genuinely useful.

A notebook embossed with someone's initials, a framed photograph or a calendar featuring family pictures could be particularly meaningful.

Charitable gifts may also appeal to someone who prefers not to accumulate more possessions. Consider making a donation to a cause they support, with their agreement.

And never underestimate the value of your own time.

Offering to cook a special meal, organise a family outing or help with a project can mean far more than buying another gadget.

The important thing is to think about the recipient as an individual.

At That's Christmas 365, our advice is simple: when someone has everything they need, give them something they'll enjoy, remember or genuinely appreciate.

Christmas Presents That Bring Back Childhood Memories

Do you remember the excitement of opening your Christmas presents as a child?

Perhaps you received a train set, a doll's house, a construction kit or a board game that kept the whole family entertained.

Those memories can remain remarkably vivid, even decades later.

This Christmas, why not consider giving someone a present that takes them back to their childhood?

Retro toys and games have a special appeal because they combine entertainment with nostalgia.

Traditional wooden toys, model vehicles, spinning tops, puzzles and construction sets are still available, although modern versions sometimes differ from those we remember.

Classic board games are another excellent choice. Scrabble, Monopoly, Cluedo and chess have entertained generations of families.

For adults who remember their childhood Christmases particularly fondly, reproduction toys and vintage-inspired gifts can provide a wonderful surprise.

Music offers another possibility.

A collection of favourite songs from someone's teenage years, perhaps accompanied by a book about the performers, could make a thoughtful present.

Books themselves can also transport us backwards in time. Reprints of childhood favourites, annuals and illustrated stories may bring back memories of Christmas mornings long ago.

Of course, nostalgia isn't confined to toys.

Traditional sweets, old-fashioned decorations and classic Christmas films can all recreate something of the festive atmosphere of earlier decades.

If you're buying an older or collectible toy, check its condition and suitability. Vintage toys may not meet today's safety standards and are often better treated as display pieces.

What makes these gifts special isn't necessarily their monetary value.

It's the memories they unlock.

At That's Christmas 365, we'd love to know which Christmas present from your childhood you remember most fondly.

Was it something expensive and elaborate, or a simple gift that somehow became unforgettable?

Give the Gift of Good Sight This Christmas. A Present That Really Makes a Difference!

Christmas is a wonderful time for giving presents, but finding something genuinely useful, thoughtful and appreciated isn't always easy.

After all, how many pairs of socks, boxes of chocolates orThis year, why not consider giving someone a gift that could quite literally change the way they see the world?

An eye test, a new pair of glasses or contact lens vouchers could be one of the most thoughtful Christmas presents you ever give.

A Gift That's More Than Meets the Eye

Good eyesight is something many of us take for granted, until we begin to experience difficulties.

Perhaps someone you love has been struggling to read the small print on packaging, finding driving at night increasingly difficult or holding books and newspapers further away to make out the words.

Maybe they've been putting off buying new spectacles because of the expense, or their existing glasses have seen better days.

A voucher towards professional eye care could make an enormous difference.

And unlike some Christmas presents, it's something that could benefit the recipient every single day.

Eye Tests – A Present That Shows You Care

Regular eye examinations are important, not simply for checking whether someone needs spectacles, but because optometrists can also detect signs of potentially serious eye conditions.

Glaucoma, cataracts and certain changes associated with diabetes are among the conditions that may be identified during an examination.

Some people qualify for free NHS sight tests, depending on their age, circumstances and where they live in the UK. However, others must pay privately.

Giving someone a voucher for an eye examination, or offering to cover the cost, is a lovely way of encouraging them to look after their vision.

New Glasses Can Be a Real Confidence Booster

Spectacles aren't simply medical necessities. They're also fashion accessories and an important part of someone's appearance.

A stylish new pair of glasses can help someone feel more confident, more comfortable and happier with how they look.

Why not give a voucher towards a new pair of prescription spectacles, reading glasses or prescription sunglasses?

Many opticians offer a wide selection of frames, from traditional designs to contemporary styles.

The beauty of giving a voucher is that the recipient gets to choose something that suits their face, personality and prescription.

Don't Forget Contact Lens Wearers!

For people who prefer contact lenses, a contribution towards their next supply could be particularly welcome.

Contact lenses can represent a regular expense, especially for people using daily disposable lenses.

A voucher or prepaid contribution towards lenses, solutions or other essential supplies could be a very practical Christmas present.

Just make sure the voucher is suitable for the recipient's existing contact lens provider and prescription. Contact lenses should always be professionally fitted and prescribed.

A Particularly Thoughtful Gift for Older Relatives

For older family members, maintaining good vision can make a tremendous difference to everyday independence.

Being able to read, enjoy hobbies, recognise faces, watch television and move around safely all contribute to quality of life.

However, don't assume that someone needs an eye test or new glasses simply because they're getting older!

A discreet conversation beforehand can help establish whether a contribution towards eye care would be welcomed.

Where Can You Buy Eye Care Gift Vouchers?

It's worth asking your local independent optician or contacting larger optical retailers such as Specsavers, Boots Opticians or Vision Express to enquire about available gift cards, vouchers or payment arrangements.

Not every retailer offers vouchers covering eye examinations, prescription glasses or contact lenses, so always check the terms and conditions before purchasing.

You could also create a personalised Christmas gift certificate promising to pay towards an eye examination or new spectacles at an optician of the recipient's choice.

That might actually be the most flexible option of all!

Give Someone a Brighter Outlook This Christmas

At That's Christmas 365, we love presents that bring genuine pleasure, but we also appreciate gifts that make life better.

A new pair of glasses might help someone rediscover their love of reading. An eye examination might provide reassurance or identify a problem requiring attention. Contact lens vouchers might simply take some pressure off someone's household budget.

And isn't that what thoughtful Christmas giving should be about?

This Christmas, instead of buying another present that might spend its life gathering dust in a cupboard, consider giving someone something truly valuable.

The gift of clearer vision could help them enjoy not just Christmas Day, but every day of the coming year.

That's Christmas 365... celebrating thoughtful gifts, festive inspiration and the joy of giving all year round.

Why did I decide to write this post? I was sat waiting for my eye test in a high street optician and almost at the same time my wife and I hit on the idea that became the basis for this post!

Beauty Gifts Aren't Just About Looking Good – They're About Feeling Good, Too!

My wife and I were chatting about beauty products and about gifting them for Christmas.

My wife said: "It's often not about making people more beautiful, it's more about helping them feel better about themselves."

Which led me to thinking about that very topic which brought about this blog post.

When we think about giving beauty products or beauty treatments as Christmas presents, it's easy to assume that the aim is to make someone look prettier, younger or more handsome.

But perhaps we're missing the point entirely.

The best beauty gifts aren't necessarily about changing someone's appearance. They're about helping someone feel better about themselves, boosting their confidence and giving them a little time to enjoy being pampered.

And isn't that what a thoughtful Christmas present should do?

Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep

We live in a world where we're constantly bombarded with images of supposedly perfect people. Flawless skin, immaculate hair and impossibly youthful faces and stick-thin people seem to be everywhere.

But beauty isn't a competition, and nobody should feel they need to look different to be valued or loved.

Giving someone a luxurious skincare set, a beautiful fragrance or a voucher for a relaxing facial doesn't have to mean that you think their appearance needs improving.

Quite the opposite!

It can be a way of saying, "You're special, you deserve something lovely, and I'd like you to have a little time just for yourself."

That's a very different message.

The Wonderful Gift of Being Pampered

For many people, everyday life is a constant round of responsibilities.

There are jobs to do, families to look after, bills to pay and seemingly endless demands on our time.

Taking an hour to enjoy a massage, having a professional manicure or simply relaxing in a warm bath with some beautifully scented products can feel like a genuine luxury.

And sometimes, it's precisely the luxury we need.

A beauty treatment can offer something that money alone cannot buy: permission to stop rushing around and concentrate on ourselves for a change.

Men Deserve Pampering, Too!

Let's not forget the gentlemen!

Beauty and personal grooming gifts certainly aren't exclusively for women.

A quality shaving kit, a luxurious aftershave, a beard-care collection or even a professional grooming treatment can make a wonderful Christmas present. (For example I recently treated myself to a Harry's shaving kit.)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a man enjoying a little pampering.

Feeling freshly groomed, comfortable and confident isn't about vanity. It's about taking pride in yourself and enjoying the experience.

And if a gentleman fancies a relaxing facial or a manicure, why shouldn't he?

Confidence Can Be the Greatest Gift

Sometimes something as simple as a new hairstyle, a favourite perfume or a good skincare routine can help someone feel more confident.

Not because there's anything wrong with how they looked before, but because they've enjoyed doing something positive for themselves.

There's a world of difference between wanting to change someone's appearance and wanting to make them smile when they look in the mirror.

The latter is a wonderful reason to give a gift.

Choose With Kindness, Not Criticism

Of course, there's one important consideration when buying beauty gifts.

Make sure the present feels like a treat, not a criticism.

An expensive anti-ageing cream might delight someone who's specifically asked for it. But giving the same product to somebody who hasn't expressed an interest could send an entirely unintended message!

Likewise, weight-loss treatments, products promising to correct supposed imperfections or anything suggesting the recipient needs fixing should be approached with considerable caution.

Instead, think about what the person genuinely enjoys.

Do they love fragrances? Would they appreciate a relaxing spa experience? Have they mentioned a particular skincare brand or a hair treatment they've always wanted to try?

Listening to people is often the secret to choosing the perfect present.

You Don't Have to Spend a Fortune

The good news is that helping someone feel special doesn't require an enormous Christmas budget.

A beautifully presented hand cream, a favourite bath product, a scented body lotion or a small collection of grooming essentials can be every bit as thoughtful as an expensive spa day.

It's the care behind the gift that matters.

And sometimes, the most meaningful present is simply arranging for someone to have a little uninterrupted time to enjoy it.

This Christmas, Give the Gift of Feeling Good

At That's Christmas 365, we believe Christmas presents should bring happiness, comfort and pleasure to the people receiving them.

Beauty gifts can do all three.

They don't have to promise a younger face, a more handsome appearance or some unrealistic transformation.

They can simply say:

"You're wonderful just as you are. Here's something to help you feel wonderful, too."

And really, isn't that one of the loveliest Christmas messages of all?

What do you think? Do you enjoy receiving beauty and grooming products for Christmas, or would you prefer a relaxing treatment or pampering experience? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

That's Christmas 365, celebrating thoughtful gifts, festive inspiration and the joy of making people smile.

Luxury Christmas Gifts Without the Luxury Price Tag

Who doesn't enjoy a little luxury at Christmas? Most people, we expect.

However the trouble is luxury products often come with equally luxurious price tags.

Fortunately, creating that special feeling doesn't necessarily require an extravagant or over the top budget.

One approach is to purchase smaller versions of premium products.

Beauty and fragrance brands frequently offer miniature collections, discovery sets and travel-sized products. These can provide an opportunity to experience a prestigious brand without purchasing a full-sized item.

For someone who enjoys skincare, a carefully chosen face mask, hand cream or bath treatment can make a lovely gift. Just remember that skincare is personal, and products suitable for one person might not suit another.

Food and drink provide plenty of affordable indulgences, too.

A small box of artisan chocolates, a beautifully packaged speciality coffee or a jar of a premium preserve can feel surprisingly luxurious.

Even everyday objects can make wonderful presents when quality is prioritised. Think of a beautifully made notebook, a soft scarf, an elegant fountain pen or an attractive ceramic mug.

Another possibility is to look for premium gift sets during seasonal promotions. However, don't assume a discounted price automatically represents a bargain. Check the quantity and size of the contents before buying.

Presentation can make a tremendous difference.

Place a few carefully selected items inside a decorative box, add tissue paper and finish with a ribbon. Suddenly, several modest purchases become a delightful Christmas hamper.

At That's Christmas 365, we believe Christmas luxury should be about enjoyment, comfort and thoughtfulness rather than simply spending money.

And sometimes the most luxurious gift of all is something that allows a busy person to relax, unwind and enjoy a little time for themselves.

Shops like Rymans, B&M, Home Bargains and The Works all sell very well made wicker baskets that you can fill with your own festive goodies.

Christmas Gifts and Shopping. Twenty Christmas Gifts Under £20 That People Will Actually Want

Christmas shopping doesn't have to involve spending a fortune.

In fact, some of the most appreciated presents are those that show a little imagination rather than an impressive price tag.

With household budgets still important to many families, That's Christmas 365 has been looking at gifts costing less than £20 that could bring genuine pleasure to their recipients.

Here are twenty ideas worth considering:

1. A beautifully illustrated paperback book.

2. A scented candle in a reusable container.

3. A selection of speciality teas.

4. A luxury chocolate assortment.

5. A personalised mug.

6. A miniature indoor plant.

7. A quality notebook and pen.

8. A pair of warm winter gloves.

9. A traditional card game.

10. An unusual kitchen gadget.

11. A small gardening tool set.

12. A selection of craft beers.

13. A handmade Christmas decoration.

14. A colourful reusable shopping bag.

15. A compact phone stand.

16. A selection of artisan biscuits.

17. A cosy pair of slippers.

18. A puzzle book.

19. A bird feeder for the garden.

20. A small pampering gift set.

Of course, prices vary between retailers, but all these categories offer options within our suggested budget.

One particularly good idea is to create a themed gift. A paperback novel, some chocolate and a bookmark could make a delightful reading package. Alternatively, combine speciality tea with a decorative mug for someone who enjoys a relaxing cuppa.

Presentation matters, too. A modest gift carefully wrapped with a handwritten message can feel much more personal than something expensive purchased without much thought.

Shopping early also allows time to compare prices, watch for special offers and avoid costly last-minute delivery charges.

Our Christmas message? Don't confuse the amount you spend with the amount of pleasure your gift might bring.

Sometimes the best Christmas presents really do come in small, inexpensive packages.

Give Christmas a Mexican Twist with Tequila Enemigo

Looking for a Christmas present for someone who enjoys discovering exceptional spirits?

Tequila Enemigo could bring a little Mexican sunshine to their festive celebrations, with three distinctive bottles offering everything from cocktail versatility to luxurious sipping.

Founded in 2017, the brand produces its tequila in Tequila, Mexico, beneath the imposing Volcán de Tequila in Jalisco. Its spirits use 100% Blue Weber agave grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil, with American oak barrels contributing character to the aged expressions.

According to the company, Enemigo has collected 60 global awards. However, for Christmas shoppers, the most interesting question is which bottle will best suit the lucky recipient.

For the Cocktail Enthusiast: 55 Blanco

With prices starting at £55, Tequila Enemigo 55 Blanco is the most accessible introduction to the collection.

Its name reflects the 55 iterations developed before the founders settled on their chosen expression. Expect pronounced agave character followed by delicate floral notes.

Suitable for sipping or mixing, this could make a thoughtful present for someone who enjoys preparing cocktails at home. Pair it with attractive glasses or a cocktail recipe book for a gift with plenty of possibilities beyond Christmas Day.

For the Curious Connoisseur: 89 Añejo Cristalino

Starting at £105, Tequila Enemigo 89 Añejo Cristalino offers something a little different.

It spends 14 months ageing before undergoing a three-stage filtration process, producing a clear tequila with a delicate, floral character.

The brand recommends drinking it neat, without ice or garnish, to appreciate its individual flavours. For someone whose drinks cabinet already contains favourite whiskies and gins, this offers an intriguing opportunity to explore another style of carefully crafted spirit.

For a Truly Special Gift: 00 Extra Añejo

At £185 upwards, Tequila Enemigo 00 Extra Añejo sits firmly in the luxury gift category.

Matured for more than three years, it has an amber colour and a flavour profile described as combining oak, tobacco and demerara sugar notes, followed by an agave finish.

This is a bottle for leisurely appreciation: perhaps shared with adult family members or friends during a quiet festive evening. Enemigo suggests serving it neat in a champagne flute to concentrate its aromas.

All three expressions are available online and through selected independent fine drinks stockists.

Whether your recipient loves cocktails or prefers exploring spirits one measured sip at a time, there is a festive option here.

Find out more at Tequila Enemigo. Prices are supplied RRPs; check before ordering.
