Wear your festive attire for Christmas Jumper Day is Thursday 8th December

The nation’s favourite TV celebrity pairs, including Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, and Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have swapped their usual glam gear for cosy, festive attire, as they model their favourite festive knits in support of Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 8th December.

The This Morning and Made in Chelsea stars joined BBC presenters and mother-daughter duo Andi and Miquita Oliver, singers and celebrity Gogglebox favourites Martin and Shirlie Kemp and Good Morning Britain co-hosts Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins to pull on festive double-headed jumpers, to celebrate the UK government’s commitment to DOUBLE every donation to Save the Children this Christmas Jumper Day.

Other celebrities backing the campaign include singer and Starstruck presenter Olly Murs, Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice, Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, Spice Girl Emma Bunton, The One Show presenter Alex Jones, activist and Loose Women panellist Katie Piper, Love Island star Dani Dyer, dancer and ex Strictly presenter Arlene Phillips, Premier League and FIFA World Cup presenter Seema Jaswal, TV doctor Dr Ranj Singh, and comedians Adam Hills, Suzi Ruffell, Adam Pearson and Lee Ridley.

Since launching a decade ago, Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day has raised in excess of £30 million to help transform the lives of children around the world. Now, the campaign is set to reach twice as many children as before, thanks to the UK government’s Aid Match funding which will double every donation up to £2 million. 

With Brits becoming increasingly conscious of their fashion footprint, and with the cost-of-living crisis continuing to bite, the charity is also urging the nation to choose pre-loved woolies and up-cycled knits adorned with baubles and tinsel instead of hitting the high-street. In fact, previous research by the charity found that one in five have previously bought a second-hand Christmas jumper, while one in eight (13%) made their own.

To encourage sustainable fashion, all the famous faces supporting the campaign are modelling second-hand vintage jumpers, some of which will be distributed to Save the Children charity shops across the country for others to buy and enjoy.

Holly Willoughby said: “I’m really excited to be taking part in Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day again this year and I'm delighted I get to do it alongside Phil! So go and grab your best mates on December 8th and don your favourite festive jumpers together. There's even more reason to get involved this year, as the UK government are matching donations to Save the Children, up to £2Million, so your £2 will go twice as far in helping children in the UK and around the world."

Olly Murs said: “Christmas Jumper Day is a great cause, and what better year to take part than this year, when the UK government is going to match every donation up to £2 million! Don’t forget to put the date in your diary and encourage as many of your friends and family as you can to join in the fun on Thursday 8th December.”

Miquita Oliver said: "I absolutely loved wearing this second-hand disco jumper to celebrate Christmas Jumper Day - I find getting dressed up for Christmas so much fun! If you don't already have a festive knit, take a look in your best friend's wardrobe or go to your local charity shop - you'll be amazed at what you can find - or what may find you!

To take part, get together with friends, family, colleagues or classmates, throw on your favourite second-hand sweater on Thursday 8th December, and donate £2 (or £1 for kids) to Save the Children. 

For every £1 donated, the UK government will double it up to the amount of £2 million to help mothers and babies thrive in some of the most rural communities in Kenya.  All other funds raised will help some of the most disadvantaged children across the world, including the UK, get access to food, healthcare and education.
