Why Electric Pedicure Sets Make a Brilliant Christmas Gift! And they're available now via the That’s Christmas 365 Online Shop!

Looking for a present that’s thoughtful, practical, and a little bit pampering? Electric pedicure sets tick every box.

As more of us focus on wellbeing, self-care gifts are firmly on trend, and footcare is one area people often forget about until they see (or feel!) cracked heels, dry skin, or tired toes. This Christmas, an electric pedicure kit is a simple way to give the gift of comfort and confidence.

Here’s why they make a superb addition to your festive shopping list, and why you’ll find a fantastic range through the That’s Christmas 365 online shop.

1. A Luxurious Home Spa Experience — Without the Price Tag

Going for regular pedicures can be expensive, especially during the winter months when most of us are tightening our belts. An electric pedicure set lets your recipient enjoy soft, smooth feet from the comfort of home.

It’s a little luxury they can use all year long.

2. Perfect for Anyone Who’s on Their Feet All Day

Teachers, carers, retail workers, parents, gym-goers, ramblers and hill walkers,  so many people end the day with sore, dry, or overworked feet.

A good electric footcare kit can:

Smooth hard skin

Buff rough patches

Promote better circulation

Leave feet feeling refreshed in a matter of minutes

It’s the kind of gift that genuinely improves someone’s daily comfort, especially through the cold winter season.

3. Ideal for Older Gift Recipients

Footcare becomes more important as we age, but bending, scrubbing, and using manual files can be uncomfortable or difficult.

Electric pedicure tools take the strain out of foot maintenance, making them a thoughtful and practical gift for grandparents, older relatives, or anyone who needs a helping hand.

4. A Clever Stocking Filler or Main Gift

Electric pedicure sets come in all shapes and sizes — from compact, budget-friendly models to full premium kits with multiple attachments. This makes them ideal whether you’re:

Filling Christmas stockings

Buying a Secret Santa gift

Putting together a pamper hamper

Choosing a practical main present

There’s a model for every budget and every personality.

5. A Gift That Promotes Confidence

Feet often become dry and cracked during the winter thanks to cold air, central heating, and thick socks. Smooth, well-cared-for feet feel better — and boost confidence. For those who suffer from particularly dry skin or discomfort, a pedicure set can make a surprisingly big difference to wellbeing.

6. Save Time and Money by Shopping With That’s Christmas 365

The That’s Christmas 365 online shop brings together a curated selection of electric footcare tools and accessories, all available through Amazon for safe, secure, convenient shopping. You can browse reviews, compare models, and have everything delivered directly to your door in time for Christmas.

It’s an effortless way to find a useful, meaningful gift without queuing in shops or hunting around multiple sites.

Final Foot Care Thoughts

Electric pedicure sets are one of those wonderfully sensible Christmas gifts that people don’t always think to buy for themselves — but absolutely appreciate when they receive them. They’re practical, pampering, and perfect for anyone who could do with a little comfort this winter.

Browse the full range in the That’s Christmas 365 online shop and treat someone you love to happy, healthy feet this festive season.

At Christmas Time, we ask... Why Do So Few Top Beauty Houses Offer Skincare Aimed at Men?

Discover why top beauty houses still overlook men’s skincare, the myths holding the industry back, and why older men deserve better representation in premium skincare ranges.

After we were recently looking at how granddads can benefit from a simple, effective skincare routine, a natural next question arises: why do so few major beauty brands offer dedicated skincare lines for men at all?

Walk into most department stores and you’ll see shelves upon shelves of creams, serums and treatments for women – yet the men’s shelf, when it exists, is often an afterthought.

Here’s a closer look at why this gap persists and why it might finally be starting to shift.

1. The Old Myth: “Men Don’t Care About Skincare”

For decades, beauty houses assumed men simply weren’t interested. Grooming was framed as optional, even vain, unless it involved shaving.

This outdated belief still influences the industry. Many brands fear that investing heavily in male-targeted skincare won’t generate enough returns – even though surveys increasingly show the opposite.

Men, and especially older men, do want to look after their skin. They simply haven’t been marketed to in a way that feels familiar, accessible or even permissible.

2. Legacy Marketing Still Drives Strategy

Beauty houses are creatures of habit. Historically, women have always been the primary buyers of skincare products, and brands built their entire marketing structures around that demographic. Everything from packaging to language to in-store displays remains tailored to women.

Creating a men’s line requires rethinking:

Branding

Product textures and scents

Advertising tone

Retail placement

That level of overhaul can be expensive – and many brands choose to stick with what they know.

3. Men’s Skincare Is Often Hidden Inside “Unisex” Ranges

Another reason the market looks sparse is because much of the skincare technically suitable for men isn’t labelled as such. Brands often launch “unisex” or “universal” products rather than products explicitly aimed at men.

This allows them to avoid:

Creating a separate male brand identity

Committing to men-specific product education

Running parallel advertising campaigns

It’s a safe strategy for companies, but it leaves many men unsure about what’s for them and what isn’t.

4. Misconceptions About Men’s Skincare Needs

Some beauty houses still assume that men don’t need tailored formulas. But that’s simply not true.

Men’s skin can behave differently due to:

Higher collagen density

More active sebaceous glands

Daily shaving

Differences in wrinkle patterns as they age

Older men, including granddads, may need help with issues such as dryness, sensitivity, razor-related irritation, sun damage and uneven texture. Yet only a handful of premium brands actually formulate with these needs in mind.

5. The Packaging Problem

Many men resist buying skincare because it’s often packaged in ways that feel overly luxurious, feminine, or complicated.

Beauty houses haven’t always been successful at producing men’s ranges that feel:

Straightforward

Functional

Mature

Stylish without being embellished

This leaves a gap for niche brands and supermarket ranges to fill – while the major players stay cautious.

6. A Missed Opportunity with Older Men

One of the most surprising omissions is the lack of skincare marketing for older men. Brands chase male consumers in their twenties and thirties but rarely speak to men over fifty, even though this group:

Has strong spending power

Values quality

Often wants simple, no-fuss routines

Can see real benefits from targeted skincare

Your previous feature on skincare for granddad highlighted this beautifully – older men often don’t know where to start because they’ve never been invited into the skincare conversation.

7. Change Is Coming – Slowly

There are early signs that the big labels are waking up. Male grooming is a growing global market, and younger generations of men are far more comfortable using skincare. As this becomes the norm, beauty houses will have to adapt or risk being left behind.

Expect to see:

More premium men’s moisturisers and serums

Expanded anti-ageing lines for men

Advertising campaigns featuring older male models

“Routine”-based kits aimed at beginners

There’s still a long way to go, but the shift is undeniable.

Final Thoughts: Men Deserve Better Representation

The lack of men’s skincare from top beauty houses isn’t due to a lack of need – it’s due to outdated assumptions and marketing inertia. But as more men take skincare seriously, the brands that step up will reap the rewards.

Men, including granddads, deserve skincare that feels welcoming, effective and tailored to them. And perhaps it’s time the beauty industry realised that.

How Should a Brit Celebrate Thanksgiving? A Festive Guide for Curious UK Households

Discover how Brits can celebrate Thanksgiving with UK-friendly dishes, clever ingredient swaps, and cosy seasonal touches in this festive guide from That’s Christmas 365.

Thanksgiving may not be a traditional British celebration, but plenty of us enjoy the idea of a cosy autumn feast, a moment to pause before the Christmas rush, and a chance to borrow a little of that warm, familial American tradition.

Whether you’re hosting your first UK-based Thanksgiving or simply fancy an excuse for a hearty meal, here’s how you can recreate the spirit of the holiday – with a few clever British twists.

What Thanksgiving Means – and How Brits Can Join In

At its heart, Thanksgiving is about gathering with loved ones, enjoying seasonal food, and taking a moment to reflect on the good things in life. You don’t need to adopt the full American calendar to enjoy that. Think of it as an autumnal pre-Christmas warm-up: comfort food, candles glowing, and a grateful toast across the table.

You can keep the day relaxed and festive. Invite friends or family round, light a few seasonal-scented candles, and enjoy the slower pace before December becomes all mince pies, mulled wine, and frantic shopping.

What Foods Should Brits Serve for Thanksgiving?

Americans centre their feast around a few classic dishes. Many translate perfectly to UK kitchens; others need a little adapting.

1. The Main Event: Turkey (or Alternatives)

A traditional roast turkey is standard, but you don’t need to replicate an American-sized bird. A crown works well for a smaller gathering.

If you’d rather skip turkey altogether (especially if you’re keeping it for Christmas), try roasted chicken, slow-cooked beef brisket, or a veggie alternative like mushroom Wellington.

2. Mashed Potatoes – No Swap Needed

Brits make superb mash. Add a generous amount of butter, a splash of milk or cream, and a bit of nutmeg for a slightly richer, holiday feel.

3. Stuffing

American stuffing often includes cornbread – not something that always pops up on UK shelves.

Swap: Use a good quality sage and onion stuffing, or make your own with sourdough, herbs, butter, and onions.

Add cranberries or chopped apples for that classic sweet-savory style.

4. Sweet Potato Casserole

An American favourite, topped with marshmallows (yes, really). Sweet potatoes are easy to get here, and the rest is simple.

If marshmallows feel a bit too… much…

Swap: Use a pecan crumble topping rather than marshmallows. It’s elegant, crunchy, and far more British-friendly.

5. Green Bean Casserole

A staple dish in the USA, but cream of mushroom soup (the key ingredient) differs slightly here.

Swap: Use any standard condensed mushroom soup or make a simple creamy mushroom sauce from scratch.

Fried onions for the topping can be replaced with crispy shallots or even French’s style onions if you can find them online.

6. Cranberry Sauce

Easily found in UK supermarkets this time of year.

To make it feel more “harvest feast” than “Christmas dinner,” add orange zest and a dash of cinnamon.

7. Pumpkin Pie

The defining Thanksgiving dessert, though tinned pumpkin isn’t always easy to find in smaller UK shops.

Swap:

Use roasted butternut squash purée (it tastes almost identical once spiced).

A spiced apple pie or pecan pie also fits the theme perfectly if you want a simpler option.

Other American Dishes You Can Easily Recreate

Biscuits (American scones): UK scones minus the sugar work nicely. Serve with gravy.

Mac and cheese: Creamy, indulgent, and widely loved on both sides of the Atlantic.

Cornbread: Can be made from scratch with polenta if you can’t find boxed mixes.

Drinks to Serve

Thanksgiving drinks tend to be warming and autumnal:

Spiced apple cider (our version is non-alcoholic; add rum if you like)

Mulled apple juice

Brown ales or amber ales

A nice bottle of red for the table

Pumpkin spice lattes for fun

Decorations and Atmosphere

Because Thanksgiving sits so close to Christmas, you can keep things simple:

Warm autumn colours (gold, amber, deep red)

Pumpkins or gourds if you still have any leftover from October

Candles or fairy lights

A table set with rustic linens and seasonal foliage

It’s cosy, relaxed, and not nearly as formal as a Christmas dinner.

A Thanksgiving the British Way

There’s no right or wrong way to celebrate Thanksgiving as a Brit. Think of it as a chance to enjoy great food, good company, and a welcome moment of calm before December begins in earnest.

You can follow American recipes closely, or add your own British touches. Serve a full turkey feast, or simply host an autumn supper with gratitude at its core. The whole charm of celebrating Thanksgiving in the UK is that you can make the holiday your own.

I am truly blessed that my "day job" employer is based in the USA and invites all employees to enjoy Thanksgiving by having a day off in honour of the occasion.

The festive glow continues down Wembley Park Boulevard, where the trees are wrapped in dazzling seasonal lights, guiding visitors through the neighbourhood.

A unique addition can be found next to the OVO Arena Wembley, where three original K6 red phone boxes have been transformed into glowing festive installations, filled with hundreds of multi-coloured sparkling lights.

Further immersive photo moments include the Gingerbread Arch in Samovar Space, a 20ft walk-through installation, and the spectacular 50ft-tall traditional Christmas Tree at the heart of Market Square, sparkling with over 500 giant baubles.

Cultural highlights are led by two major musical events this season.

Father Christmas himself will also be holding court at London Designer Outlet (LDO), with a free Santa’s Grotto available every weekend in December and on 22nd–24th December. Also at LDO, families can take part in the Winter Trail (until 24th Dec), a fun, interactive challenge where visitors can earn a Lindt treat while exploring the centre.

The Wembley Park Festive Market will be taking over Market Square every weekend in December, bigger and better than ever.

Over 50 traders will be offering the very best in artisan products and homemade gifting experiences. Visitors can browse a diverse selection of treasures, from South American alpaca crafts to African textiles, while warming up with steaming cups of mulled wine and tasty seasonal treats.

For those looking for high-street brands at unbeatable prices, London Designer Outlet remains a top destination, home to over 70 shops offering up to 70% off RRP.

Gourmet food plays a central role in the festivities. Unearth the Perfect Christmas Gift for the Archaeology Buff in Your Life. Straight from the Time Team Shop

When Christmas rolls around, finding the perfect gift for the history-lover or archaeology fan in your life can feel a bit tricky.

But if they’ve ever watched Time Team, or loved handling trowels and exploring ancient sites (even if only via TV), then the official Time Team shop is your go-to spot this year. From stylish tees to dig-inspired mugs, it’s packed with thoughtful, themed presents.

Why the Time Team Shop stands out

Official merchandise: This is the real deal – the store is clearly labelled as the “official Time Team shop” and carries all the authorised merchandise.

Variety of product categories: The shop isn’t just one-type items. You’ll find clothing & accessories, books & stationery, home & garden items, travel gear, even seasonal decorations (perfect for Christmas).

UK-friendly: Based in the UK, so shipping, sizing and customs are easier to navigate for UK shoppers (always good at Christmas!).

Themes that fit the niche: Products like a “Dig Kit”, picture maps of Britain’s archaeology, mugs, tea towels—all help you find something fun, quirky and relevant.

Gift Ideas & Examples

Here are some ideal picks from the shop that should hit the spot:

A classic logo T-shirt or sweatshirt with the Time Team branding—great for wearing when binge-watching archaeology shows.

A “Dig Kit” accessory or themed travel/outdoor item—for the person who enjoys fieldwork or exploring historic sites.

Home & garden themed items: e.g., a tea towel with a picture-map of British historical sites, or a candle inspired by ancient places.

Books and stationery: ideal for someone who writes, researches or has a keen interest in archaeology.

Christmas-specific items: decorations or stocking-fillers drawn from the archaeology world (yes, they do have a “Seasonal / Christmas” section).

How to make the gift extra special

Tie it to a personal experience: If you’ve been to a historic site together, or know a particular era they’re fascinated by (e.g., Roman Britain, Anglo-Saxon cemeteries) pick something that reflects that.

Pair with an experience: Maybe include a note suggesting you’ll visit a local archaeology museum together, or go on a heritage walk—makes it more than just an item.

Wrap it in theme: Use brown craft-paper and string, add a little “archaeologist’s note” tag, maybe a mini ‘dig’ tool (toy trowel) for fun.

Order early: Christmas shipping is always busy—given that this is specialist merchandise, you’ll want to allow extra time for delivery to the UK.

Things to check before you buy

Sizing & international shipping: If ordering clothing, check the size charts. Even though it’s UK-based, if you’re sending overseas or to someone in the UK receiving from abroad, check shipping times.

Stock levels: Some items may sell out, especially themed collabs (for example, the Time Team x Sutton Hoo tee recently restocked after selling swiftly).

Returns & exchanges: Especially for clothing or homeware—make sure you’re clear on the shop’s policy (returns, exchanges).

Budget categories: The shop helpfully divides gifts by price (e.g., “Gifts under £10”, “under £25”, etc) so you can filter by budget.

Whether your recipient is a dedicated amateur archaeologist, a history nerd, or a long-time fan of Time Team’s explorations, the Time Team shop offers meaningful, fun and themed gifts that reflect their passion. This Christmas, instead of a generic present, give something that taps into their love of the past—and makes them smile every time they glance at it.

Head over to the shop, explore the categories, and dig up that perfect find. The past never looked this presentable!

Incidentally, I worked with some of the original team members when I worked for an archaeological unit in the West Midlands many years ago.

Practical, Helpful Christmas Gifts for Loved Ones About to Give Birth

Thoughtful ideas to support new parents this festive season.

Christmas is all about giving, and sometimes the most meaningful gifts are the ones that make life a little easier.

If someone in your life is preparing to welcome a new baby, this is the perfect moment to choose presents that are practical, comforting and genuinely helpful.

And especially relevant at this Advent time of year.

Whether they’re due on Christmas week or early in the new year, your gift could make their transition into parenthood smoother, calmer and more joyful.

Here are some brilliant gift ideas that show your love and support during this exciting time.

Why Practical Gifts Matter for Parents-to-Be

While cute baby grows and soft toys are always lovely, new parents often need items that help with the day-to-day reality of pregnancy, birth and life with a newborn. Practical gifts offer:

Convenience during a physically demanding time.

Comfort for recovery and rest.

Support when their attention is on the baby, not on shopping.

Reassurance that they’re surrounded by people who care.

Choosing useful gifts shows you’re thinking about what they’ll need – not just what looks nice under the tree.

Comfort Gifts for Mum-to-Be

As birth approaches, comfort becomes top priority. These gifts can make a big difference:

Maternity loungewear

Soft, breathable sets offer comfort during late pregnancy and the early postnatal period.

A luxury pregnancy pillow

Perfect for helping them sleep more comfortably, especially in the final trimester.

A cosy dressing gown or fluffy slippers

A festive classic – and ideal for night feeds and early-morning cuddles.

Skincare for expectant mums

Think fragrance-free moisturisers, soothing balms or gentle bath products.

Practical Essentials for New Parents

These aren’t glamorous, but they’re the items new parents often appreciate most:

Meal kits or supermarket gift cards

A lifesaver when cooking becomes a challenge.

(You can even order through the That’s Christmas online shop!)

Muslin cloths and baby blankets

You can never have too many – genuinely.

Nappy caddy or organiser

Keeps everything in one easy-to-reach place for those late-night changes.

Feeding support items

Bottles, steriliser bags, a breastfeeding pillow or slow-flow teats.

(Stick to items you know they’ll use or have requested.)

Gifts to Help Them Rest and Recover

The early days can be beautiful – but exhausting. These picks are perfect for helping new parents recharge:

Prepared freezer meals

A homemade or ordered selection of hearty, warming dishes is priceless.

A weighted blanket (lightweight version)

Soothing for parents who need better rest in snatched moments.

A voucher for a cleaner or laundry service

A truly practical gift that frees up precious time.

A self-care hamper

Herbal teas, a gentle candle, lip balm, soft socks and a few festive treats.

Experience and Emotional Support Gifts

Sometimes the best gift isn’t an object, but time, care or confidence.

“Babysitting tokens” for future use

Offer a few hours so parents can sleep, shower or step outside for a breather.

 A photography voucher

Capturing those early family moments is something they’ll treasure forever.

A pregnancy or new-parent massage voucher

Just be sure the therapist is qualified in pre- and post-natal care.

 A beautiful notebook

Perfect for recording feeding patterns, milestones or late-night thoughts.

Thoughtful Gestures That Make a Big Difference

Not all gifts are bought – and sometimes these mean the most:

Drop off a hot casserole on a rainy December evening.

Offer a lift to hospital appointments.

Put together a “night feed basket” of snacks and drinks.

Help them decorate their home for Christmas when bending is tricky.

Small acts of kindness go a long way.

The Gift of Reassurance This Christmas

For parents on the cusp of bringing new life into the world, Christmas can feel magical – but also overwhelming. Practical gifts show thoughtfulness, understanding and genuine support at a time when it matters most.

Whether you opt for soft loungewear, a cosy pillow, a baby buggy or an old-school design pram, frozen meals or a simple offer of help, your Christmas gift could become one of the most appreciated presents they receive this year.

If you’d like recommendations or links to helpful products, browse the That’s Christmas online shop, powered by Amazon, for curated ideas perfect for new parents and little ones.

Twelve Dog Days of Christmas? Buying Christmas gifts for your pets is not unusual

Love them, can’t leave them – why 60% of pet owners always spend Christmas with their pets.

Spending Christmas away from home, either with family or friends or perhaps an Airbnb for a change of scene, is a growing trend and with it comes the opportunity to bring a beloved pet.

A new survey by Animed, the online pet care retailer, shows 70% of pet owners want to spend Christmas with their pet and 60% couldn’t imagine of leaving them behind.

With Airbnb reporting a 30% increase in searches for pet-friendly properties, it seems like British pet lovers want their furry friends with them over the festive period.

This is reflected in increased sales of canine and feline advent calendars, Christmas stockings and baubles, up a staggering 115% on last year.

“We love our pets and they give us such a lot throughout the year in terms of companionship so it’s not surprising that we don’t want to leaves them behind at Christmas”, Animed vet Jess Simmonds told That's Christmas 365.

“Instead, we want to involve them in the festivities, from buying a Christmas stocking to a special Christmas lunch. It’s our way of saying thank you”.

Here are the 12 ways we Brits spoil our pets at Christmas:

1. 76% buy their pet a gift

2. 72% curl up and watch a Christmas movie together

3. 69% buy a special Christmas toy

4. 45% of pampered pets have their own Christmas stocking

5. 42% include their pet in the family Christmas card

6. 33% buy a novelty jumper or collar for their pet

7. 31% give presents from their pet to family members

8. 32% share a special walk on Christmas Day

9. 29% book a pet-friendly getaway

10. 28% allow their pets to join in with their Christmas dinner

11. 27% indulge their pet with festive-themed treats

12. 16% would buy a personalised novelty tree decoration of their pet

With all the festive cheer floating around, it’s hard not to go the extra mile with treats and goodies for our furry companions.

It’s a wonderful way to say thank you for all their love and loyalty over the year and to make them feel the cherished member of the family they are.
