Mixy Fandino, who specialises in fair trade, handcrafted jewellery, accessories, and handbags from Colombia, is excited to announce that she will be exhibiting at the https://www.countrylivingfair.com/london/

This will allow customers to meet Mixy and learn about her entire jewellery and handbag collection all in one place.

Mixy feels that she is privileged in being able to work very closely with artisans from Colombia. This Fair Trade collaboration provides artisans with the very real opportunity to earn a livelihood while living at home and supporting their families.

Through working with local artisans and nurturing relationships based on respect and fair trade, Mixy  has developed a high-quality range of jewellery and handbags inspired by nature and indigenous traditions, yet with a wholly contemporary edge and vibe to them.

The Basket Room has first rate handcrafted Christmas decorations

The Basket Room is delighted and thrilled to be able to announce the launch of its very first range of handwoven Christmas decorations. 

There is a stunning collection of eleven colourful festive figures produced by a rural women’s craft group in Eswatini, in southern Africa.

The range comprises a chorus of winged angels in eight different colours, a snowman, a Father Christmas figure, and a Christmas pudding. 

These detailed ornaments are all handwoven from sisal, which is a grass found in abundance across the country and therefore is a sustainable, renewable material. 

Each piece in this collection brings sustainable work to rural artisans, from growing and harvesting the crop to preparing and dyeing the fibres. And that's all this before the weaving begins. Once harvested, sisal leaves are then stripped to reveal their robust internal fibres before being dyed using natural dyes wherever possible.

The group behind this collection was launched by a pioneering founder with a mission to empower women through leadership workshops, handicrafts training and health education. In 1985 there were 12 women being mentored through this organization; to date over 1400 women have benefitted from working with this group and lead more empowered and sustainable livelihoods thanks to its support and guidance. As well as small décor items, this group also produces beautiful sisal baskets and silver jewellery.
