Get your Christmas stocking fillers from Standeazy!

Christmas is Coming! And just about now we start to think of hunting down stocking fillers and those other smaller Christmas gifts that don't break the bank, yet which are of good quality.

Stocking fillers can be hard to find, research can become a bit of a chore when weu are looking for something ‘a bit different’ that doesn’t come with a heart stopping price tag. Yet the inexpensive choices can be somewhat limited or perhaps a bit dull.

That’s where Standeazy is a simple choice for every budget.

Phones, tablets and e-readers are probably on a lot of wish lists - so why not complement them with a stand that converts them into hands-free devices and fits in every wallet?

Designed to not only be practical when ‘in action’, it’s different because it is credit card sized and thus super slim, light weight and easy to carry anywhere.

Anyone owning a smartphone will know the abundance of applications from video chat to TV and movie streaming that benefit from hands-free use; let alone all those cooking apps (recipe holder), family apps (baby monitor, alarm clock, contraction counters), camera apps (with self timer and slow motion, time-lapse or other effects) and tutorial apps to name but a few.

And with these gadgets being not the cheapest, it’s needless to say that Standeazy also protects from bumping a device on a hard surface when wanting to lay it down, getting it covered in muck whilst cooking or mishandled by adventurous toddler fingers.

Standeazy comes in three different colours and two materials. Designed and manufactured in the UK, you can choose from the polymer version which holds smartphones and e-readers such as the kindle, or the aluminium laminate version (Standeazy Ultra) which also holds tablets.

Standeazy is a clever little accessory for your smartphone, and starting at £2.99 it will not break your bank!

To learn more about this British designed and made product please visit www.standeazy.com.

New Christmas musical in book and CD form

Barry the Penguin's Black and White Christmas is a brand new and fun musical written by Lesley Ross and John-Victor.It is adapted by Rachel Bellman with Lesley ross and is sumptuously illustrated with great full colour illustrations by Matt Rowe. It is narrated by Doctor Who's Christopher Eccleston.

It tells the story by the use of the written word in the book and with some well-written and well-performed songs that are on the accompanying CD.

Father Christmas has been kidnapped by the remarkably evil queen of all the bedbugs.

She has an evil plan and she needs Father Christmas to help her put her nefarious plan into effect.

She will use her plan to destroy Christmas... forever!

But all is not lost, for onto the scene comes Barry the Penguin detective. Barry is a skilled, resourceful and brave Penguin detective. But he needs help, help from the chosen one, a little girl called Phoebe, to save Father Christmas.

But can she help? Will she help? Because due to a family tragedy, Phoebe hates Christmas!

Can Barry convince her to help him? If they can't reach Father Christmas before the chimes of midnight, all will be lost. Christmas will be destroyed forever and the bedbug queen's plan will have succeeded!

Or will they succeed with the assistance of the mysterious Wordsmith and of Actavia, the young nun?

This is a fantastic large format book which will be great fun for all the family, as all of the lyrics of the utterly charming and well-performed songs are included in the book for mums, dads, grandparents, children and the rest of the family to enjoy immensely and at only £9.99, this is one Christmas treat you can't afford to miss!

Ben and the Spider Gate

Ben and the Spider Gate is a fantastic hardback book by Angela Fish.

It tells the story of how Ben, an ordinary little boy, discovers an extraordinary secret insect kingdom at the bottom of his own garden.

Ben's Granny is wise and he loves chatting with her, he also has fun playing computer games with Jess, who is his best friend.

He also likes to help his dad train Scoot, their very smart dog, who he loves playing ball with Scoot in the garden.

But one day Ben's life was to change when he met up with Lox, who is the special gate-keeper of the spider Kingdom.

Lox is frantic. He needs the help of Ben to save the spider kingdom from destruction, but how will Ben be able to help save the spider kingdom without leaving his own garden? Without entering the deep, dark Wood?

It is autumn, or leaf fall as it used to be called, many years ago and Ben and Jess must be very brace if the spiders who live in the spider kingdom are to have a safe winter.

He talks things over with his Gran and he soon begins to wonder if his Gran knows more about what is gonig on than she is willing to admit?

It is a stunningly well-written and delightful book for children and parents and very well-illustrated with some engaging and enchanting artwork throughout the book.

It is published by the Book Guild at £12.99 and will make an excellent stocking filler for all children.

It is due for publication on 24th September and will be available via all bookshops and at the book shop at our sister site http://thatsbooks.blogspot.co.uk.

Resolve to say "No" to New Year Resolutions!

A top organisation for men has issued a surprising call for men to be brave and ignore the clamour for them to make some form of  New Year Resolution or an other and to just say no!

In fact, Round Table is offering a place of sanctuary to men who don’t want to  make a pledge to go on a diet, swear off alcohol or to join a gym.

Round Table, which has a staggering 400 clubs across the United Kingdom and Ireland for men who range in ages from aged 18-45, is promising to remain a resolution free zone and it's actively encouraging men to seek refuge in their local club.

The ringing in of the ‘New Year’ provides a chance to look at life and make changes.

But with nearly 80% of men and women failing to stick to their resolutions, Round Table is throwing open its doors to men who want to do more, but who do not want to risk stigmatising themselves as failures.

Steve Glaister, the president of Round Table Britain & Ireland, told That's Christmas: “New Year is about celebration and making the most of life…not a punishment pledge to radically alter our lifestyle.

“The high failure rates show resolutions are futile. This is why we believe they should be abolished. Why feel a failure for not keeping to a resolution?

“As a result, Round Table pledges to remain a New Year Resolution free zone, offering a safe haven for those wanting to celebrate life, to do more and feel a success.

“This is a chance for men from all walks of life to try something new. There are no strings attached. I urge men to discover a world of new activities and new skills.”

Round Table is offering men in the 18-45 age bracket a free night out with their nearest club in January 2015, with no resolution needed.

A White Christmas in Plymouth!

Drake Circus Plymouth had snow for last minute Christmas Eve shoppers.

Drake Circus, in the Christmas spirit, brought real snow to their shoppers this year. Festive snow fell at Drake Circus Shopping Centre this Christmas Eve.

Shoppers embraced the snow with many taking #snowselfie pictures with loved ones. The snow machines being used at Drake Circus were used as the official snow machines of the Sotchi 2014 Winter Olympics.

Happy St. Stephen's Day, everyone!

Yes, today we celebrate the feast of St. Stephen's Day.

This day, 26th December, is also known as Boxing Day in the UK and some Commonwealth nations.

Christmas misery for thousands as City Link Parcels goes into administration

There is misery  this Christmas for thousands of employees of City Link Parcels and for some customers who might not have received Christmas deliveries that they were expecting.

It is rumoured that some staff are owed wages. Staff members were only told that they had lost their jobs on Christmas Eve.

It is understood that some undelivered parcels that are in the City Link system will be returned to the sender. Or that people expecting parcels might be able to collect them from a City Link depot.

The story is covered by the BBC at  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-30602326

and by the Financial Times at http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/572c548e-8c7c-11e4-ad27-00144feabdc0.html#axzz3MxcgPzJK
